1. Research Vaccinations and Health Precautions

Before packing, check what vaccinations you might need for your destination. I used CDC.gov to find out which vaccines were recommended based on my travel plans. Many Southeast Asian countries require proof of certain vaccinations, so it’s best to check ahead.

Check for any required medications, like malaria pills, depending on where you’re traveling.

I personally got two COVID-19 vaccinations before moving to Bali.

Keep both printed and digital copies of your vaccine records to avoid travel disruptions.

2. Get Multiple Debit + Credit Cards

One of my biggest travel tips? Always bring backup debit and credit cards.

Keep one card in your wallet and a spare in your luggage, just in case.

ATMs can swallow your card—this happened to me twice in Indonesia!

Opt for no foreign transaction fee cards to save money.

Birth control if you use it—availability varies by country.
