Looking to attract your ideal followers on Instagram and convert them into customers? In today’s episode, I’m sharing my own strategies for attracting ideal followers on Instagram, building a community, and converting followers into social media management clients.
Why More Followers Shouldn’t Be Your #1 Focus
From my experience at an Instagram Marketing Company, many prioritize vanity metrics over building a loyal community and converting followers into clients. People often believe that more followers equal more sales, but quality followers are key. For instance, I consulted a lady with 300k followers, yet her jewelry business saw little to no sales. Despite her large following, most were unengaged and uninterested in her products. This highlights the importance of quality over quantity when it comes to followers.
Focus On 1,000 True Followers
Instead of focusing on vanity metrics and trying to appear as a successful social media account + brand, this lady should have been focusing on attracting & nurturing 1,000 true fans. This is a concept by Kevin Kelly and it basically states that you really only need 1k true fans to make a solid living. Why? Because these are going to be the people who will be the first to buy, they love what you do, what you are all about, & therefore they are those true fans. So if you can attract 1k of these types of people and let’s say you convert even just 1% of them, that’s 10 people. And in the case of the lady selling luxury necklaces for let’s say $1,300 each, that is still $13,000 which is a pretty good chunk of change.
So again it’s not that you need more followers, its that you need the RIGHT followers, those true fans, and it’s up to you to attract them to your social media pages, nurture them, build trust with them, lead them down your sales funnel & ultimately convert them.
Now some tips to help you start attracting those 1k true fans and turn them into paying clients is:
1. Define Your Ideal Client
Create a detailed client persona outlining their likes, dislikes, struggles, and goals. This gives you a clear picture of who you’re targeting and helps maintain consistency across platforms.
#2. Create Free Valuable Content
Like big-name brands, provide free content that genuinely helps your audience, positioning you as an expert and building trust. Tailor your content to address your ideal client’s struggles and offer actionable takeaways.
#3. Develop A Lead Magnet
Create a valuable freebie to attract your ideal audience and collect their email addresses. This could be a guide, ebook, webinar, or video series. Ensure it addresses their specific challenges and includes a clear call to action.
#4. Build Relationships
Take the initiative to build relationships with potential clients. Actively engage with your audience, network, and establish connections to grow your brand and client base.
